Reintegration & Child Safeguarding Training Session
Project Objectives:
This multi-day Reintegration training follow-up will include: 1) an experiential learning session with Pendekezo Letu, 2) a complete training on child and vulnerable adult safeguarding to improve safety at each partner's organization, and 3) a monitoring and evaluation component to measure and improve the overall Reintegration training program.
Project Summary:
To support our partners, Kitechild walks with them as they transition to rescue centers, where children come when they need residential help but then are aided with skills, family assistance, and education, so that they can be reunited with members of their family. This will be a follow-up to prior Reintegration Training Sessions, as each partner is in a different stage of their reintegration plan development. Pendekezo Letu is a partner with a very advanced ability for reintegration and child protection. Partners will visit this center and see first hand how they protect children and actively prepare the children and families to be reunited.
This training will also include child protection and safeguarding training to assist partners in developing or strengthening their policy and programing, in-line with international and national standards and best practice. Kitechild is making child and vulnerable adult safeguarding as children's physical, sexual, and mental health and safety are imperative for allowing a child to thrive.
Kitechild plans to do an evaluation of the training in order to gather data to create a scaled up program, which can be implemented on a larger scale, country-wide. The data will also inform research and practice in this area of reintegration and deinstitutionalization globally.
Number of Children Impacted : 3,500 +
Partner Background: This is for all 8 partners.
Partner Voices
Our partnership with Kitechild and their role in helping us start the Shamba (Kenyan for farm) and dairy farm has eliminated expenditure for vegetables and milk improving the children's nutrition and health greatly. The water borehole, the vegetables and the milk has also brought the community closer to us, as they come to get water and buy milk and vegtables. We are now coexisting well.

Kitechild doesn't give us handouts or tokens, they give us VALUE. They provided us with the seeds and funding to build two greenhouses and today we have greenhouses full of green tomatoes and are expanding the farm to grow onions and potatoes outside in the open air. This is never heard of before in Masai land, growing one's own food, but with their help we did it.
